NotesAn old escape route for ship-wrecked sailors, this path crosses wild and remote scenery. Frequent rain and muddy sections make the path slippery in some places and tree-roots add to the ankle-wrenching possibilities (especially the western side of the Ironbounds). The route does however have a true wilderness feeling and a chance to be completely self-sufficient, and there's even the distraction of borrowing a rowing boat to cross New River Lagoon. It's worth checking for up-to-date information before setting off on this path as conditions and routes near the sandbar sections can change.

RouteSouth Molle Island Trails
NotesA network of paths criss-cross this relatively small grassy island, providing some of the best walking in the Whitsunday Islands. The views to the other islands of the Whitsunday group are spectacular. There's enough walking for one full day.

RouteRamsay Bay - Nina Peak - Little Ramsay Bay (N1) - Zoe Bay (N2) - Mulligan Falls (N3) - George Point
NotesA pretty tropical island trail leading through many pristine landscapes. A permit system with camping quotas is in use. Zoe Bay is an especially scenic location. Although the distance is relatively short, progress in the humid air is slow and there are plenty of swimming and viewpoint diversions to stretch the walk out over 3 or 4 days.
