Day Walks - Stanley Chasm, Macdonnell Ranges, Northern Territory, Australia

Back to Map

Visited: Late Apr

The most impressive chasm in Central Australia lies to the west of Alice Springs, with rocks and scenery reminiscent of the Mediterranean. There's a day's worth of exploration possible along the Larapinta Trail up and around the chasm in more dramatic desert landscapes. It is possible to scramble up to join the Larapinta Trail after walking through the chasm, but you'll need to be pretty confident on rock.
