Islands - Lofoten Islands, North Atlantic

Back to Map

Visited: Mid June

Located a few degrees above the Arctic Circle, the dark mountains of the Lofoten Islands rise dramatically from the sea, against an often grey sky. Colourful houses around quiet harbours provide striking contrast to the wilderness of the mountains beyond. The 24 hours of daylight in midsummer do alleviate the otherwise cool and damp prevailing conditions.
