NotesAlthough permits need to be booked in advance, it's well worth doing so for one of the world's classic walks. The views and perspectives on the canyon are ever-changing. By Late October, snow is likely at the Canyon Rim, but the lower areas of the canyon are still likely to be mild temperatures. Without the time or permit for an overnight trip, Plateau Point makes a good day-trip, or a long day-trip to the river from the Canyon Rim is possible is you're confident of covering the distance and altitude gain on the way up.
